Toaster Launcher Dev Diary - September 2023 - Power Ups

    The power up system have proven a challenge from its conception to its implementation, especially since it is a new mechanic not found in the classic Toaster Launcher. Now that most of the original mechanics have been added, with new ones as well, and that aesthetics and polishes would soon take priority, the dev entries will now be monthly.
    First of all, the power up system has now been added. There are currently four power ups, and while more could be added, I do not think it would be necessary to widen the scope.

The four power ups are:

1. Quick Toast (Rapid Fire) - Temporarily triples the fire rate. 
2. Confetti Spout (Spread Fire) - Fires 2 more toast left and right.
3. Burning Toast (Piercing Bullets) - Makes toast go through enemies.

4. Shield - Temporarily shields the player from an enemy collision.

There is also an extra mechanic added that affects this system: The Favor System. This influences the difficulty of the game (at least in endless mode) based on how well the player is performing. If the player performs well, the game gets harder such as fireworks spawning less frequently. Otherwise, the game "helps" the player by becoming easier. The favor resets if the player gets destroyed.

In the future, the Favor System will be expanded upon. Aesthetics such as UI and animated sprites will also be added.
